Getting the Most From Comp Intel

Your reports are only as good as the competitors you pick. Here's how to set it up right the first time, and what to expect after.

Picking your competitors

  • Pick who your customers actually compare you to. That's usually the businesses that show up next to you on Google, or the names customers mention ("so-and-so quoted me less"). It's usually not the biggest national brand in your industry.
  • Not sure who to pick? Click Suggest competitors on your setup page. We'll suggest local businesses based on your industry and service area. Keep the ones that make sense.
  • Add their websites when you know them. It makes the reports sharper.
  • Be specific about your service area, for example "Augusta and Columbia County, GA" rather than "Georgia."

Your first report

A real person on our team reviews your first report before it's sent, to make sure your competitors and results look right. Allow up to one business day. After that, your reports arrive automatically on schedule.

Reading your report

  • Start with the summary. It tells you what changed and what matters most this week.
  • Look at the recommended actions. Pick one and do it. That's where the value is.
  • If a section says "Not checked this period," one of our data sources didn't respond that week. It's checked again next time. You don't need to do anything.

Changing your competitors

Opened a new location, or a new competitor moved in? Reply to any report email with the change. We'll update it, and your next report picks it up. Need to track more competitors than your plan allows? Upgrade anytime from the billing link in your emails.

Adding or changing who gets the report

You can have up to 5 people on the report. Reply to any report email with the names and email addresses to add or remove.
